Senior Wing Chun

Breath Training (Very Important)

Breath Training

Many seniors unknowingly breathe shallowly (chest breathing), which can lead to increased fatigue, dizziness, and heightened stress hormones. Learning the proper breathing technique is essential to improve overall well-being and mental clarity.

Teach Wing Chun Breathing:

Breathing Method:

  • Inhale deeply through the nose
  • Expand the lower abdomen with each breath
  • Exhale slowly, making sure to exhale longer than you inhale
  • Avoid holding your breath at any point

Breathing Rhythm:

  • Inhale: 4 seconds
  • Exhale: 6 seconds

Pair the Breathing with Wing Chun Techniques:

  • Tan Sao Extension for engaging the arms
  • Wu Sao Recovery for enhancing movement flow

This combination of breathing and Wing Chun techniques activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the body’s calming and healing mode, helping to reduce stress and restore balance.

By practicing these techniques, seniors can improve their respiratory function, reduce stress, and promote relaxation, leading to a healthier and more peaceful life.
